Catalina Island By Helicopter

 

For those visitors who have a bad case of sea legs, and or just want to get to the island quicker, there is an option of traveling to Catalina via a helicopter. Departing daily from the Queen Mary at Long Beach, Island Express operates 15 minute flights to the island. Island Express utilizes four seat helicopters and charges a fair of $86 one way. The company boasts as having the most experienced pilots in the world and also provides helicopter services to offshore drilling rigs, movie studios and private interests.

When arriving on Catalina Island via helicopter visitors will land on a designated landing area that is south of Lover's Cove and about 3/4 of a mile from the town center of Avalon. Those looking to walk will find it an enjoyable stroll as the road leading from the helipad and into town snakes along the ocean and Catalina's Lover's Cover. However those looking to save time will find several taxis-both car and golf car awaiting their arrival at the heliport to take them wherever they need to go on the island.
