The Best Western Hollywood Hills is situated in the eastern section of Hollywood towards the Silverlake area of Los Angeles. The property is a stand alone hotel along Franklin Blvd. in that it is the only hotel within a mile radius of the location. The hotel is more of a two star hotel compared with the other Best Westerns in the area that are a little newer and contemporary (on Highland and Sunset Strip). Although the hotel is addressing this with a major renovation plan to begin in August, 2010. The Best Western Hollywood Hills is located in a more residential area of Hollywood with apartment buildings on either side and houses on side streets running off of Franklin.
Unlike the budget hotels off Highland where walking into the heart of the Hollywood and Highlands area is convenient, the Best Western Hollywood Hills is about a mile east and will require a vehicle to access those areas. There are no clearly defined and marked paths along Franklin to these areas. Those visitors looking to make the most of their stay in the Hollywood or Universal Studios will find the Best Western Hollywood Hills to be fairly efficient. By car Hollywood and Highlands is less than 10 minutes away and Universal Studios is right off the 101 and a ten minute drive. Other nearby attractions include the Griffith Observatory.
Guests seeking to visit Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood and Santa Monica will find the Best Western on Franklin to be a little bit of a distance. At peak rush hour times, the drive to the west side and beaches can be up to an hour. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool which can be refreshing in the summer months when this area of LA experiences very warm weather.
