Made famous by the Eagles song, the Hotel California is located right on the beach and adjacent to the Santa Monica pier. On the upper class side the hotel is the total California architecture and feel and perfect for those looking to enjoy the sunshine, beach and pure ocean breeze. The hotel maintains an outdoor feel where you access the rooms from outdoor patios and balconies rather than through interior hallways. Each entrance to a room has a characteristic California beach feel with oak wooden doors that rival the entrance to a luxurious bungalow.
Passing right in front of the hotel along the beach is the Santa Monica bike path. Make a right on path and you will be taken right into the Santa Monica Pier and if you stay on the path you can eventually end up in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. Make a left and you can walk down into Venice Beach. The Hotel California is located on Ocean Avenue and is adjacent to several luxury hotel properties along the beach including Hotel Casa Del Mar, Shutters, and Lowes. Hotel California is easy walking distance to fine dining along Ocean Avenue and shopping such as the the 3rd Street Promenade.
If you have travel plans that will take you to other parts of Los Angeles such as Beverly Hills, the San Fernando Valley or Hollywood, note traffic at peak times can make travel to these areas from Hotel California up to an hour. On weekends and off peak times it is only 20 minutes at the most. Hotel California is easy access to the PCH and Malibu. If you are more content on staying on the beach and almost exclusively on the westside, Hotel California is a good match. You will need a car to get access to convenience stores.
