Venice Beach is less than a ten minute car ride to the south of the hotel. Frequent bus service (by Santa Monica's Big Blue Bus) stop near the hotel on Ocean Ave and have a direct route to Venice. Those not inclined to walk will also find convenient bus service to the Santa Monica Pier as well.
The Shangri LA offers a classy yet relaxed and coastal feel. Upon stepping into the lobby the visitor will feel the calming atmosphere with dark colors and ultra chic vibe. To the right of the lobby is a bar/restaurant where every table gets a dramatic view of Ocean Avenue and the Pacific below. The windows are angled in such a way to capture the cool ocean breeze. The hotel is angeled on a corner so all the rooms afford a view of either the Pacific, the Santa Monica shoreline, Malibu or the city of Santa Monica and parts of LA. If your travels take you beyond Santa Monica, you will need a car. During rush hour and peak times the drive from this part of Santa Monica to such locations as Beverly Hills, Hollywood and West Hollywood can be up to an hour. On off peak times, the drive is less than 20 minutes.
