Built with the contemporary California architecture in mind, the hotel is a sprawling property with decks extending from the rooms and a true California resort feel, Shutters on the beach is the perfect place to stay for those looking to enjoy the sunshine, beach and pure ocean breeze. Passing right in front of the hotel along the beach is the Santa Monica bike path. Make a left and you can walk down into Venice Beach. Shutters is located at the termination of Pico Blvd right off of Ocean Avenue and is adjacent to several luxury hotel properties along the beach including Hotel Casa Del Mar, Lowes and Hotel California. Shutters is easy walking distance to fine dining along Ocean Avenue and shopping such as the the Third Street Promenade.
There are many dining and bar options at Shutters. On the lower Pacific Deck you will find two fireplaces and full service catering at the sand’s edge. One Pico Restaurant is a fine dining experience, located indoors but with panoramic views of the ocean One Pico offers a full lunch and dinner menu with items such as seafoods, pasta and steaks. In addition One Pico offers a Sunday Brunch. Dining at One Pico is relaxing as you can look out at the blue ocean and observe the roller bladers, bikers and runners and as they cruise by on the Santa Monica bike bath.
The interior of Shutters maintains an old east coast rustic look with deep brown hardwood floors and low ceilings in the lobby. Many of the rooms have sundecks that allow visitors to hang out and enjoy the views of the ocean. The hotel is less than a ten minue walk to the Santa Monica Pier, the Third Street Promenade and many of the restaurants along Ocean Avenue (including the Ivy at the Shore).
If you have travel plans that will take you to other parts of Los Angeles such as Beverly Hills, the San Fernando Valley or Hollywood, note traffic at peak times can make travel to these areas from Shutters up to an hour. On weekends and off peak times it is only 20 minutes at the most. Shutters is easy access to the PCH and Malibu. If you are more content on staying on the beach and almost exclusively on the westside, Shuttersr is a good match. You will need a car to get access to convenience stores.
