The Standard Downtown is the sister hotel to the the Standard West Hollywood. Located in the heart of LA’s financial district, The Standard Downtown is housed in a modest building resembling and old bank or office building. The hotel is known for its heated rooftop pool where all year round LA locals come to enjoy cocktails and food poolside with the adjacent downtown high rises as a backdrop. In the summertime many promoters throw pool parties at this location The Standard Downtown is a radical departure from the other hotels in the area catering to a more hardcore business crowd. This property is more into the pop culture, jet setting/high roller set looking for something luxurious yet unrefined with a hint of edge.
The Standard Downtown is walking distance to all the sights of downtown LA. The hotel is less than a 15 minute walk to the Staples Center, LA Live and the historic Broadway Theater district. The Disney Concert Hall is half a mile to the north of the hotel. Visitors looking for dining and shopping opportunities will find them to be a bit scarce in the immediate area of the hotel and will have to walk to the LA Live area where there is an abundant of shopping, dining and entertainment options.
Visitors looking to travel beyond downtown to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Venice and Santa Monica will find that downtown LA is somewhat segregated from those areas. Drive time to Hollywood at rush hour can be up to 45 minutes while up to an hour to other areas of the city. During off peak times travel time to the beach areas, Beverly Hills and Hollywood are less than 30 minutes. However those guests without a car will find LA's subway to be less than a ten minute walk from the Standard Hotel Downtown where they can take a direct (no transferring) subway to Hollywood and Universal Studios.
During the weekends in the summer time the rooftop pool at The Standard is home to some of the biggest parties in LA and are produced by several big name producers. These parties are easliy accessible to guests but often lines form outside for those none hotel guests who seek to join the parties. In the evening time during the weekdays the rooftop pool is also hoping with hotel guests and local LA business people enjoying a cocktail and the colors that radiate off the neighboring downtown sky skrapers that are fueled by the sunset.
