The W Hotel Hollywood is the latest and one of the most extravagant hotels to join the line up of accommodations that are springing up in the heart of the Hollywood area of Los Angeles. Located on Hollywood Blvd near Vine, the W Hotel opened in 2010 with a great deal of fanfare, press and excitement. The hotel boasts 2 twin high rise structures standing parallel to one another and connected by the common lobby at ground level.
The W Hotel Hollywood is located on Hollywood Blvd about a 3/4 of a mile to the east of the Hollywood and Highlands Center. Those arriving at the W Hotel in Hollywood for business will find it to be an ideal accommodation. With the 101 freeway just feet away guests can get to either Downtown Los Angeles or Universal Studios in minutes. In addition, the entrance to the Hollywood and Vine subway station along the red line is on the sidewalk not even ten feet from the lobby of the hotel. This direct subway line goes straight to the Hollywood and Highlands center down the street and then on to Universal Studios to the north. In the opposite direction it offers nonstop service to Downtown Los Angeles.
Visitors looking to stay at the hotel for pleasure will also find it to be a convenient location. However if planning to walk, it should be noted that it can be up to a 20 minute walk along Hollywood Blvd to the Hollywood and Highlands Center where frequent tour buses depart for celebrity homes and tours of Los Angeles. Those willing to pay, the red line as previously mentioned departs directly from the front doors of the hotel to the Hollywood and Highlands Center.
All of the rooms at the hotel feature 42 inch flat screen TVs with cable, individual climate controls, full length mirrors, work desks, signature W bathrobes, voice mail, cordless telephones, ipod docking station, movies and more.
The W Hotel is directly across the street from the Pantages Theatre which frequently hosts some of the biggest names in Broadway productions for both the local LA set and visitors alike. Just a ten minute walk south along Argyle Blvd. (bordering the east side of the hotel) is the Sunset Argyle Theaters on Sunset Blvd. offering a high class movie going option with assigned seating and a wide variety of LA scenes who come to watch the movies. The part of Hollywood the W Hotel is located is overall safe, however it is somewhat segregated from the main excitement of Hollywood and Highlands.
On the rooftop of the W Hotel is a club called Drai where guests can take in a cocktail while enjoying the spectacular views of a Sunset against the Hollywood Sign, all of Hollywood and south across Los Angeles. From this rooftop visitors can see views of the Santa Monica Mountains, the CNN building (beaming many live broadcasts at prime time) and down Hollywood Blvd. into the Hollywood and Highlands Center.
Like the views from the rooftop, many of the rooms at the W Hotel in Hollywood enjoy amazing views of the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory and Hollywood and Sunset Blvds. Many of the rooms have spacious decks and balconies where guests can go out and take in fresh air (yes air is fresh on this side of town as the cool Pacific breezes from the beaches do make it this far east) while enjoying the hustle and bustle of the sidewalk and Walk of Fame below.
Visitors looking to stay in Hollywood and see just Hollywood, Downtown, Universal Studios and travel the rest of LA via tour buses that depart Hollywood and Highlands will find the W Hotel modern, sleek and convenient. However those with a car looking to explore on their own areas into the west side of Los Angeles, including Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Venice will find that at rush hour traffic can be quite heavy and travel times to these areas can be 30 minutes to an hour.
