LA's subway line is small and no where near on the level of other subways found in Paris,
London and New York, but the redline of LA"s underground system is fast, efficient and direct. More and more locals are discovering it as a fast and easy way to get from Downtown to Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley.
The redlne begins in Downtown LA with several stops along the way including Hollywood and termintes in the San Fernando Valley at Universal Studios. The Hollywood stop includes a station at the Hollywood and Highlands complex that is accessed through an entrance on Hollywood Blvd. From this station riders can travel to either Universal Studios in Hollywood or to Downtown Los Angeles. The subway is a very efficient mode of transportation for those wishing not to rent a car or ride the public buses, allowing visitors to take in the sights of Downtown, the San Fernando Valley and Universal Studios. By getting a hotel in the Hollywood and Highlands area, one can make an easy weekend in LA without a car by using the subway station and tour buses in the area.
Unfortunately this is the only route so far that the subway serves and any visitors staying in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood or the beach areas will be able to enjoy the service.
