Day Trips From LA: Catalina Island
West Hollywood has the highest concentration of hotels in all of Los Angeles. The area is bordered on the west by Beverly Hills and on the east by Hollywood. West Hollywood is a very eclectiic community that serves as LA's epicenter of night life, culture experiences and dining. There are three main areas that comprise West Hollywood in regards to the Sunset strip. There are the hotels on the Sunset Strip, hotels on Santa Monica Blvd and the LGBT district, and hotels on Beverly and La Cienega Blvds in the southern section of West Hollywood. The Sunset Strip in West Hollywood has for years exuded lights, glamour, and crowds, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. The hotels along this stretch are all state of the art, very modern and each have a unique hip LA character catering to the jet setter traveler. Most of the hotels along the Sunset Strip have spectacular views of all of LA as this part of Sunset stretches alonge a hill.
The hotels along the Sunset Strip include The Andaz, The Standard, The Sunset Tower, Best Western Sunset Plaza, Grafton and The Mondrian. There are two hotels just below the Sunset Strip that are easy walking distance to the LGBT area of Santa Monica Blvd as well-they are The London and Le Montrose. The area south of the Sunset Strip is the gay and lesbian area of West Hollywood on Santa Monica Blvd. Right where Santa Monica Blvd enters West Hollywood from Beverly Hills is the Hotel Beverly Terrace. Further along Santa Monica Blvd is the Ramada Inn West Hollywood and the Palihouse.
All of these accommodations are easy walking distance to the bars and clubs along Santa Monica Blvd. Where La Cienega runs south away from Sunset and Santa Monica Blvds, and where it crosses Beverly Blvd and 3rd street are another cluster of West Hollywood hotels. These hotels are nearest to all the major hot shopping spots of LA including the Beverly Center, Robertson Blvd and the Melrose Ave shopping district. These hotels include the newly renovated 5 star property SLS Hotel, the boutique Elan Hotel and The Orlando Hotel and the Hotel Sofitel. In addition the Le Parc Suite maintains a very secluded residential address off of La Cienega and Melrose.
